Festival Hours

Friday August 5: 10am-11pm Community Connections closes at 8pm and other vendors close at 10pm. The Main Stage continues until 11pm.
Saturday August 6: 10am-10pm Community Connections closes at 8pm; all else at 10pm.

Steppin' Out, August 5-6, 2016

Steppin' Out features over 250 artists and crafts people from around the United States selling unique handcrafted items – jewelry, pottery, textiles, metal work, basketry, stained & fused glass, yard art, fine art, furniture, toys, artisan foods and so much more!

Downtown Blacksburg merchants also hold their much-awaited final clearance sidewalk sales during Steppin' Out. And those festival foods you love are provided by downtown restaurants.

Admission is free! Town of Blacksburg metered parking is all free and Blacksburg Transit provides free shuttles to get you there without the hassles. Bring your friends! Bring your family!

PETS are NOT Allowed

If you must bring your dog, please leave him/her in the Canine Corral on the Henderson Lawn on College Ave. Sponsored by The Retreat.

Service provided by Prestige Pet Sitting Agencies, 540-961-1710. The Corral will be open 10am - 10pm on Friday and Saturday.

The Steppin' Out 2016 t-shirt

The Steppin' Out t-shirt has become an annual collector's item and is part of the great Steppin' Out tradition! We are excited to reveal the design for this year's t-shirt and to introduce you to the designer, Maya Renfro. Maya entered and won the annual t-shirt design contest held by Downtown Blacksburg, Inc. in 2015 and again this year!

The Steppin' Out t-shirt was designed by Maya Renfro and was printed by downtown merchant, High Peak Sportswear. T-shirts are now available to purchase from Mish Mish, Fringe Benefit and Heavener Hardware or from DowntownBlacksburg.com

 

 

The State Tourism Office to Bring LOVE to Downtown Blacksburg, Inc. Steppin' Out

Giant artwork will be displayed Thursday August 4 to Sunday August 7 to promote visitation to Downtown Blacksburg & the Alexander Black House Museum & Cultural Center.

The Virginia Tourism Corporation will bring an oversized LOVE artwork to Downtown Blacksburg on Thursday August 4th, 2016 as part of a state and local partnership to promote tourism. The artwork, which is 16 feet long and more than six feet high, is part of the Virginia is for Lovers campaign and designed to promote family-friendly vacation experiences in Virginia. Visitors can come see the LOVE when it arrives Thursday August 4th, 2016 and will be on display on the Alexander Black House Lawn through Sunday August 7.

Visitors are encouraged to take a picture in front of the artwork and share it on Facebook at www.Facebook.com/VirginiaisforLovers or on Instagram and Twitter, using the special hashtag #LOVEVA.

New Life, located at 130 Jackson St., NW, will be handing out free popcorn, cotton candy, and water. They will also have some fun activities such as Cornhole, Giant Jenga. They'll also be opening up their building for indoor seating, cooling off, and bathrooms.

Free Scuba Experience Friday & Saturday

Discover scuba diving here in the mountains. The New River Valley Scuba Club & Tech Dive Center will facilitate a pool and professional scuba instruction for the public. If you have ever wanted to try scuba, this is your chance. There will be no charge, but space will be limited. You will just need to bring your bathing suit and the club will provide the rest. Participants must be at least 12 years old and in good health.
